Privacy policy

Last updated: Nov 5, 2026

This policy explains which personal data is processed when you visit Low-Tech Picks, why, and which rights you have. The site is operated from Germany, so it follows the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and German data protection law.

Who is responsible

Controller within the meaning of Art. 4(7) GDPR:
Michel Löper
Markt 2, 16909 Wittstock/Dosse, Germany

Hosting and server log files

When you open a page, your browser sends technical data that our web server records in log files: IP address, date and time of the request, the page requested, the referring page, browser and operating system (user agent) and the response status. We use this data to deliver the site and to find and fix errors and attacks. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR – our legitimate interest in a secure, working website. Log files are deleted automatically after 14 days. We do not combine this data with other data.

The site runs on a server we rent from STRATO GmbH, Germany.

Contacting us by email

If you email us, we process your email address and the content of your message to answer you. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR – our legitimate interest in answering your request. We delete your email once your request has been dealt with, unless statutory retention obligations apply. This site has no contact form and stores no messages on the website.

Fonts

All fonts are served from our own server. Your browser does not connect to third-party font services such as Google Fonts.

Analytics (inactive until enabled)

No analytics tool is active on this site at the moment. We plan to use Matomo on our own server, without cookies and with shortened IP addresses. This section will be updated before it is switched on.

Affiliate links and partner tracking

Some links on this site are affiliate links, marked with an “Ad” badge. Nothing is sent to a partner while you only read our pages. When you click such a link, your browser leaves this site and opens the partner network or retailer. They may set their own cookies on their own domains, record the click and, if you buy, attribute the purchase to us so that we receive a commission. These partners are responsible for the processing on their sites; where we and a partner jointly decide on the purposes and means of this processing, we are joint controllers under Art. 26 GDPR, and you can exercise your rights with us or with the partner.

No partner program is active yet, so this site currently has no affiliate links.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you have the right of access (Art. 15), rectification (Art. 16), erasure (Art. 17), restriction of processing (Art. 18) and data portability (Art. 20). To use these rights, email us at the address above.

Your right to object

Where we process your data on the basis of Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR, you have the right to object at any time, on grounds relating to your particular situation (Art. 21(1) GDPR).

Right to lodge a complaint

You can complain to a data protection supervisory authority, in particular in the EU member state where you live or work or where the alleged infringement took place (Art. 77 GDPR). The authority responsible for us is: Die Landesbeauftragte für den Datenschutz und für das Recht auf Akteneinsicht Brandenburg, Stahnsdorfer Damm 77, 14532 Kleinmachnow, Germany.

No automated decisions

We do not use automated decision-making or profiling (Art. 22 GDPR). You are not required to provide personal data; without the technical connection data, however, the site cannot be displayed.
